Mary SanGiovanni
Mary SanGiovanni has been writing since before she could even read.
Well, in a way.
Mary has always wanted to tell stories, and she graduated up from stick figure drawings that she used as a visual means of telling herself stories, to handwriting tales, then on to typing them and finally, to learning the ins and outs of manuscript format, sending out stories, writing up queries and synopses, to selling books.
Mary has been selling short stories to professional and semi-professional markets since 2000, appearing in places like Black October, Best of Horrorfind, and more recently, Space & Time and Postscripts. She's written reviews, convention reports, articles, brochure contents, and other assorted non-fiction in addition to short fiction in the horror, sf, and fantasy genres. a collection ofher short stories, UNDER COVER OF NIGHT, was published by Flesh & Blood press in 2002, and in September 2007, Leisure published her first novel, THE HOLLOWER. She has been contracted to write a second novel for Leisure, a sequel to the Hollower still untitled, and her literary agent, Frank Weimann, is shopping around a third novel.
Upcoming short story publications include an appearance in issue 4 of Inhuman Magazine and an appearance on Horrorworld.
Mary has many other interests in addition to writing. She is an avid fan of horro movies and video games, loves to read, sing, dance, and was until recently involved in Tae Kwon Do and Haganah self-defense fighting. Mary works full time and teaches part time, and is also a full time mom to her son, affectionately called the Sprout across the internet.
A native of New Jersey, Mary has been a member of the Garden State Horror Writers since 2000, and has served two terms as its vice president, two terms as president, as newsletter editor, membership chair, and now currently serves in an advisory role. She is also a member of the Horror Writers Association, where she served as a trustee, Persephone (a women's writers group), and the Mid-Atlantic Horror Professionals.
